Our accessibility policy

At Heart, we want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. We believe internet accessibility is crucial for creating a more inclusive digital world where everyone has the opportunity to participate fully.

We have therefore, wherever possible, implemented the following solutions.

  • Our design features contrasting levels, colours and fonts.

  • The ability to zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen.

  • The ability to navigate most of the website using just a keyboard.

  • The ability to navigate most of the website using speech recognition software.

  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

  • We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

  • AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

In alignment with our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, our hiring and recruitment policy is designed to ensure that we attract a diverse pool of candidates and provide fair and equitable opportunities for all applicants. We are also able to make reasonable adjustments to the interview process for those who require it.

How accessible is this website?

We have tried to design this website to comply with the POUR principles. These are the four core principles of web accessibility, guiding the creation of inclusive and usable digital content for everyone, including people with disabilities. Namely, we have thought about the Perceivable, Operable, Understandable and Robust features of this website.

Following these principles, we have implemented the following solutions:

Visual Clarity: The general layout is relatively clean, with distinct sections.

Text Readability: The primary body font should appear reasonably legible on its background in most areas.

Responsive Design: This site adapts well in most areas to different screen sizes (mobile included), which helps perceivability on various devices. We have noticed however, a few videos that feature embedded text do not adapt well and we will fix this in a future edition.

Clear Navigation: We believe the navigation menu is relatively straightforward.

Interactive Elements: Buttons and links are generally clickable

Keyboard Accessibility: Nearly all interactive elements (links, buttons, menu items, video play buttons) can be reached and activated using only the keyboard (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Spacebar)

Consistent Navigation: The main navigation appears consistently across pages.

Language: The language used is relatively clear and typical for a business website.

Page titles:  Each page has a unique and descriptive <title> element that accurately reflects its content.

Standard Technologies: Our website is built using standard web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS).
